DR GOH’S PHILOSOPHY
Dr Goh is committed to providing personalised care, recognizing the uniqueness of each patient’s situation.
He firmly believes in empowering patients to actively participate in decisions regarding their health and well-being. To achieve this, Dr Goh dedicates time to ensuring that every patient understand the underlying causes of their eye disease as well as the pros and cons of available treatment options, drawing on the latest medical evidence.
While pursuing his basic medical degree, Dr Goh engaged in research focused on age-related macular degeneration. Throughout this research, he gained insights into the remarkable capabilities of ophthalmologists, both in surgical and medical contexts.
At that point in time, eye injections with anti-VEGF had recently emerged as a treatment option. Witnessing firsthand the transformation of patients who, not long ago, faced blindness could now preserve and enhance their vision through this innovative therapy left him captivated.
Moreover, he observed the profound impact of cataract surgery on patients, significantly improving their vision and subsequently enhancing their independence and overall quality of life.
These experiences led Dr Goh to realize his calling as an ophthalmologist, driven by the desire to offer vision-saving and vision-improving treatments with the ultimate goal of enhancing his patients’ quality of life.
A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TEAM
Dr Goh understands that some eye diseases can be very complex and that patients can only achieve the best possible outcome when managed in a multidisciplinary team approach.
He has formed strong links with other ophthalmologists who have sub-specialty expertise in other areas (such as surgical glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics, squint, and cornea).
Similarly, many eye diseases are related to systemic health conditions and he believes it is important to treat patients collaboratively with the appropriate physician or surgeon from other fields of medicine to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients.
